Five Reasons You Love Kingdom Hearts
We’re all members of this website because despite our different opinions in regards to video games, we all love Kingdom Hearts! Now what is it exactly that draws us to this unique universe? Here are some specific points in the first game that I think will provide a myriad of different answers. Please feel free to put your own answers in the comment box below! Remember, this is for the first game only, not 358/2 Days, Birth by Sleep, Kingdom Hearts 2, Coded, or Chain of Memories.
Was it the Keyblade? The Magic? The Characters?
1. What was your favorite Disney world to visit?
Halloween Town and Wonderland, definitely. I’m a sucker for Tim Burton to begin with, so being stuck in Halloween Town with Elfman’s music and Sora and crew sporting their own costumes was just adorable and fun. Wonderland on the other hand wasn’t my favorite because it had the same enjoyment and excitement as Halloween Town but because of how the developers were able to implement such a bizarre story into a game so well.
2. What was your least favorite Disney world to visit?
Atlantica. I despised the swimming controls, but I think that annoyance was compounded by the fact The Little Mermaid was probably one of my lesser favorite Disney films. Donald as an octopus was kind of creepy, too.
3. What was your favorite ability Sora learned?
Flying, oh it was totally the flying ability. I know outside of Neverland it was more gliding than anything, but when I was first able to fly around Big Ben in London, after completing Neverland, there was something so magical about it. I felt like a little girl, screaming, ‘look, I’m flying with Peter Pan!’
4. What Disney character were you most excited to use on your team?
Beast! I know his castle was featured in the second game, but remember Beast was a team member when Sora was left behind at Hollow Bastion. He’s an unstoppable tank and it’s his level of defense which makes him ideal when it’s just him and Sora, since his protection gives the player time to change between keyblade offense and magic. That was helpful while the team was one member short. Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie, too, so just the chance to fight with him to save Belle, oh it was too cool.
5. What moment in the entire game moved you the most?
I’ve already established how much of a nerd I am for the Hollow Bastion area, so my favorite moment was when Donald and Goofy left Sora behind to follow Riku and our poor hero was left with nothing but a wooden sword and Beast. Every time I replay the game, that moment always pulls on my heart.

Fill out these questions with your own answers below and let’s find out what we, as players and fans of this series, have in common.

1. What was your favorite Disney world to visit?
Neverland. I loved that it was sort of the warning sign to you that said “hey man, stuff’s about to go down.” I loved flying about the ship, and that first flick of hope and excitement you get when you find out that Sora’s finally near Kairi, and she may be okay (as displayed when she moved her hand slightly when he reached out to her).
2. What was your least favorite Disney world to visit?
I’ve always disliked Agrabah. It was improved by tenfold in the second game, but still. Roaming through the four area town with that irksome music was bad enough, but I was constantly getting lost in the Cave of Wonders, too! Maybe it’s just because I was terrified of Aladdin when I was young…?
3. What was your favorite ability Sora learned?
I have to agree here that Glide was awesome. It replaced walking and dodge rolling about the area as my main form of transportation. All of the new treasure chests you could access was so cool. And let’s not forget the invigorating feeling of jumping off of the roofs of buildings in Traverse Town and gently gliding down to the ground. (am I the only one who did that?)
4. What Disney character were you most excited to use on your team?
I’d have to say, talking solely about the first game, Jack. But my heart really goes to Tron, from the sequel. I love that movie so, and just having him back me up while I bashed some bytes was so exciting.
5. What moment in the entire game moved you the most?
There are so many! Overall, really, is when Sora & co. are trying to close Kingdom Hearts at the end, and Riku just reaches out to help them. Sad, yes, but what really gets me is when they’re about to push the door closed completely and he just turns to Sora and says “Take care of her.”
I cried like a baby.
Really, though, it’s just the magic of the whole thing. You’re instantly immersed in the friendship of the three main characters, and held completely in suspense. Will Riku be able to stave off the darkness? Is Kairi going to be alright? When it’s all said and done, will you return to the islands? It combines the old, childhood Disney characters and worlds, and flawlessly incorporates the classic Disney values of Friendship and the Heart.
1. What was your favorite Disney world to visit?
My favorite Disney world would have to be.. Halloween Town. Probably because growing up, that was my favorite movie ever. Still is. I loved Sora’s costume for it, and Donald and Goofy looked amazing. It was kind of confusing to get around, but I got the hang of it. Also, Oogie Boogie was my favorite boss, so, that’s another reason why!.
2. What was your least favorite Disney world to visit?
I would have to say a tie between Atlantica and Deep Jungle. I always got lost.. plus, Deep Jungle confused me a lot. Atlantica, I hated the swimming part. I could barely get around, let alone fight. Then the bosses of the two. Atlantica, swimming made it very difficult, even now, Beating the game 10 times. I have trouble on her! Deep Jungle, ehh! The boss was just annoying to me.
3. What was your favorite ability Sora learned?
I’d have to say… Ragnarok! <333 I spammed that move whenever I got it. The special effects for that move, just amazed me. A laser? Brilliant. ^_^
4. What Disney character were you most excited to use on your team?
Hmmmm. I would have to agree with you! Beast. He is probably the only character in the first and second game first time playing them that I actually let travel with me on the team, and not just steal his items! Lol.
5. What moment in the entire game moved you the most?
The first time I cried with this game was near the end, when the door was closing, and Riku runs up and helps close it with him and Mickey still inside. I cried so much. Just like the person above me said when he said "Take care of her" I started balling.
Though, the ending of both KH1 and 2, were very moving. I cried my eyes out when in 1, Sora held Kairi's hand as the land they stood on tore apart. Then how everything from Destiny Island began rebuilding itself! Ugh!!! Pure amazing!. Then on KH2, when Riku and Sora stepped into the Door to Light, and they ran to Kairi, then Goofy and Donald tackled Sora, and Mickey hugged Riku! I began crying as well.
These series of games are the only ones that made me cry like that! (Except FFX, but that's just one game, not the whole series)

(FFX, oh what a story!!)
I’m so glad someone else uses Beast! I usually steal items from characters too, especially Aladdin… Even though I love the guy… not enough to break up my team.
(I agree, even though this is a Kingdom Hearts 1 survey, KH2 end with Goofy and Donald at Destiny Islands, that was so sweet!)
1. Neverland or Hollow Bastion

2. Atlantica
it was annoying to play there plus the music started to annoy me too
3. Definitely Glide it so much fun

5.The Ending, it was a mix of cool emotional and everything

What Disney character were you most excited to use on your team?

What moment in the entire game moved you the most?
Hollow Bastion gave us fans an amazing look at the Human Heart I mean Sora realizeing that turning Ansems Key on himself was the only way to complete the final keyhole…he thought for a moment and then stabed the blade in to his chest the Light in his Heart destroyed Ansem Key returning the seven Princesses Hearts to there rightful places however Sora’s Heart fell to the Darkness and he became a Heartless thus Roxas was born but then later in the Lobby Kiri calls out to him and he regains his Human form that right there shows us Love conqures all
1. What was your favorite Disney world to visit?
Believe it or not, Atlantica was just plain awesome. I loed the way you could swin around and the mermaid!Sora was priceless… or maybe it’s because I’m a Little Mermaid freak?
2. What was your least favorite Disney world to visit?
Hollow Bastion. They left me for Riku!! /manrytears\
3. What was your favorite ability Sora learned?
Glide. Because it was just as good as flying in Never Land. It was a fun opertunity to let out my inner Peter Pan fangirl and let her run rampad.
4. What Disney character were you most excited to use on your team?
FUCKING JACK SKELLINGTON. ADJKFLJKAJD /squee\ I loved Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas, so I got really excited when I found out you could have him on your team. I remember buying the game in the store 3 weeks after it had come out [it was a wonder how we still got a new one], and I had read game reviews about how Jack was in it. I dragged my mother there to get it for me simply so I could play with Jack.
5. What moment in the entire game moved you the most?
When I played the second time through, and I got the secret ending, I bawled my eyes out.
Sora, trying to hold onto Kairi’s hand, the world crumbing down under their feet. Their hands slip, and he lets go. “I’ll come back for you!” he shouts at her, putting a hand outsteched towrds her. “I know you will!” she yells back, fading into darkness.

1:Hollow bastion, because of all the fighting. I can’t stand a part in kingdom hearts without any fighting. 2:atlantica, because the little mermaid is just kinda iffy in my book. 3:super glide. Super amazing abliity, saved my live a dozen times. 4:Aladdin. Aladdin has always been one of my top disney movies. 5:When kingdom hearts is sealed locking the king and riku in the realm of darkness, while sora, donald, and goofy are left to search for the door to the light.
