Wow, this was a bump, but since I have something good to add, I figure I'll let it stand this time.
Personally I love Weird Al. I don't care if it is a bit childish, I love them all the same. Honestly, I find the Scary Movie series to more "childish" than Weird Al. I've always been a fan of good parodies. On top of that, the man is extremely talented. Think about it, not only does he have to write new lyrics to an existing song and have them work, but he has to imitate the styles of all the artists he parodies. He has to be able to play any genre, and any style of that genre. That's not an easy thing to do. Most artists have a very consistent style. There are many that you can tell who it is before a single lyric is sung. They do this because that's what they're good at. To be flexible enough to be good at any style takes some serious musical skill. Also, as a Diabetic, I have a strange appreciation for the song "I Love My Pancreas" XD. |
