Weapon upgrades

Hello,i am a little nervous because this is my first thread here.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a faster way to upgrade weapons,i am trying to beat Sazh's summon but im only at level three,i know its bad but does anyone know how to upgrade weapons really fast?

Sell your Credit Chips and Incentive Chips. Use the gil to buy one of the more expensive items (Forget what it is called. Some kind of particle accelerator or something, I think). Use those items to strengthen weapons. Although you shouldn't need it against Sazh's Eidolon. I didn't start seriously leveling up my weapons until Chapter 11.
