That is what is in place (I assume), mods do thier job but don't get stupid about it. If its not in place and topics are being locked reguardless of the detail and relevancy of the post then I would be rather shocked.

Mods and smods already do what your suggesting, well i do anyways. If for any circumstance i feel a thread should be left open then i wont close it and leave a note for other staff not to either. Its been done in the past. But only done on a staff judgement, therefore i see no reason for members to question authority over closing threads.

Actually no, we want old threads to stay old so they wont get bumped. It's called "PURGE" ever heard of that word. We keep useless and dead threads dead so they CAN BE PURGED.Thats why we purged certain sections at one point because we knew someone would bump a useless thread.
