Which Final Fantasy Character Should Debut Next?
One of the coolest things about the Kingdom Hearts series is that Final Fantasy characters from all games and of all levels of importance fit perfectly into the logic of the story, being that all these unique people are from different worlds, just as Sora is. Since we have no real news of a Kingdom Hearts 3 for the Playstation, it’s no big surprise many of us have mental ideas of what that game might someday be. With all of the new Final Fantasy characters that showed up in the second game, I’ve wondered which would be good additions to the third.
Fantasy Lovin’
Naturally, Final Fantasy VII saw the most love, with appearances from Cid, Yuffie, Aeris, Cloud, Tifa, even Sephiroth, while VIII and X also saw quite a number of characters including, Selphie, ‘Leon’, Seifer, Fujin, Raijin, as well as Tidus, Wakka, Yuna, Rikku, Paine, and Auron. Some of these characters were critical and constant in the Kingdom Hearts story, such as Leon and Aeris, whereas others were introduced for more light-hearted moments, like the Struggle and smack-talk from Fujin and Raijin, whom I always adored when playing VIII. So I ask, who else would fit into Kingdom Hearts?
Sora in the Skies
XII characters have as good a chance as any to make an appearance, although I don’t think Fran would be one of them unless she got a costume change, but does Balthier seem like a reasonable candidate? He is a sky pirate, which could introduce some serious airship action, since Cid is the only other character famous for his sky mobiles, and until just recently, his world was destroyed and he had nothing left. I also think that Balthier’s cocky attitude would be a humorous addition to the game, balancing out Leon’s always serious and grumpy demeanor, not that we don’t love it.
Protection from the Paladin
Cecil from Final fantasy IV would probably be another good choice. At first I thought, maybe he’s a little too dark for what Kingdom Hearts is, but he would be a great leader character, possibly a defender of other survivors who managed to escape from their world before it vanished as well. Despite not being as popular as protagonists like Cloud or Tidus, Cecil was one of the first Final Fantasy ‘good guys’ for a lot of us, playing the game back in the day on the SNES and that long-time love spurred his appearance in other games such as being the leader in Dissidia: Final Fantasy. I picture Cecil’s appearance in Kingdom Hearts being inspiring and awing, giving Sora strength when he may be in a moment of doubt.
Robot Cats are Awesome
I know this one may sound goofy, but I absolutely adore Cait Sith and Reeve Tuesti from VII. I wouldn’t expect his scene to be long, nor very important, but given that there is a strange sense of technology in many of the Kingdom Hearts worlds and Reeve is a scientist, he could fit in relatively easy. If the WRO from Dirge of Cerberus was involved in his plot, I think the storytellers would have a lot to play with. Also, just the thought of Sora wandering into a lab seeing Reeve working on one of his Cait Sith dolls amuses me to no end.
What other Final Fantasy characters could you see working well in the Kingdom Hearts universe?
Cait Sith is a spy so I would love to see some comedy from him. Terra is a blah from me. SHe’s good but I want to cross her out. Ultimecia… hm… very complicated. Still, I think Rinoa should be in there because of the letter that Leon recieved during the KH2 credits.
RINOA!!! One of the most epic things in the world me + my bro decided would be if she turned up evil, and Leon had to fight her down. XD
talking about which… to make the game more funny… i agree with summonerbrandon… CAIT SITH!!! this tiny little cute cat is very funny… to make the game more challenging… i think the silver haired mans should add to the game… kadaj, loz, yazoo will make the more interesting… for example, if they join or help the organization xlll, this will be very very very very insteresting!!! wakakaka…
I’ll agree with “FatalChaos”, Kadaj, Loz & Yazoo would be PERFECTO doing that whole thing of helping re-organizing once more organization XIII, only this time with them it could be organization XVI. Another excelent character would be FFVIII’s Zell Dintch, he’s always so extatic, it would bring us gamers memories when Seifer called him “Chicken wuss”. Sense Seifer had made an aperence on KH2, its perfect to also include Sorceress Edea and Ultimecia. And Balthier is a sky pirate it would be great to put him side by side with FFVII’s Cid, but Balthier originally deals with guns, so that’s a perfect oportunity to add FFVIII’s Irvine Kineas. Now that’s some serious gun shot/ airborne action in a game. And last but not least, in the world of Nightmare before Christmas I guess it wouldn’t be harmful to add Mr. Vincent Valentine there, would it?…. So what do you guys think?
I’m sure SQUARE will try to make the Final Fantasy characters more “story” essential then in the past games. Sure they were helpful in the first Kingdom Hearts but they really didn’t help that much in the story itself. I’m sure SQUARE will pick out the baddest of villains and the courageous of heroes from the FF series and make their role more controlling over at least 50% of the game. Most likely, they will pull a Dissidia event where the heroes of Radiant Garden will have to face off against the evil FF villains who are more then likely going to team up to take over Kingdom Hearts, and I’m sure they will make Chaos an essential part of the plot as well seeing as he is the major villain of the FF series (lore-wise). With out a doubt, I hope Kefka, Exdeath, Golbez, Garland, and Ultimecia make an appearance along with their counterparts (Terra, Bartz, Cecil, Warrior of Light) and maybe some more supporting protagonists like Rinoa, Vincent, Barret, Cait Sith, Shadow, Cyan, Gogo, and others.
Seeing as Kingdom Hearts 3 is more then likely a PS3 exclusive, they will be making it’s universe extremely much bigger allowing a lot of FF characters to be in it without taking to much value from the Disney parts or the actual Kingdom Hearts story.
I agree with having Balthier, but maybe Basch could fit in, as well. He and Vossler from XII were two of my favorite characters.
